Samuel Thompson found Guilty of Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon
Jury finds Thompson Guilty in Less Than 15 Minutes

A Madison County Circuit Court 3 jury found Samuel Thompson, 54, guilty of Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, a Level 4 felony, and Possession of Paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor. Judge Andrew Hopper set Thompson's sentencing for January 10, 2024, where he faces a maximum sentence of 12 years.
Thompson is considered a "Serious Violent Felon" as he has two previous convictions for Dealing in Methamphetamine, as Class B felonies, in 2012.
At trial, the State's case was presented by Deputy Prosecutors Gina Koorsen and Gabi Capocelli. The case was investigated by Officer Cody Anderson of the Alexandria Police Department.
